Winter's Last Stand

We were hit with an unexpected snow shower a few days ago that replenished the area's previously melted supply with a fresh nine inches overnight! The snow clung to all the trees like frosting meticulously spread by an artistic baker. There is such beauty in ordinary things like this.

The weather had been so warm for the two weeks prior to this that our maple tree already had buds on it.

Bandit is so cute peeking out from under this tree.

Stay tuned for warmer (desert-y, even!) weather. The next post will be pictures from Arizona!

Ice Fishing in Devil's Lake, ND

My brother and I went on an ice fishing trip last weekend to Devil's Lake, North Dakota. We didn't catch a single fish (in our defense the fishing reports were generally negative that weekend) but that didn't stop us from having a blast!

We stopped for gas on our way at a most unusual gas station.
Bjornson's?!
Where are we, Canada? Iceland?!

Ethan reeling in the whoppers that...we would like to have caught. :[

The only fish we ended up catching a lot of.

Sometimes the door was sticky and we had a hard time getting out.

We tried the early morning bite on the second day.

I got some awesome pictures of these deer in a field right by the lake

And I'll end with the sunset over Devil's Lake
