Rental Lens

I'm shooting some games at a basketball tournament this weekend and needed a rental lens to get fast enough shutter speeds in the dimmer lighting conditions that are often found at indoor gymnasiums.

I went with the Canon 70-200mm 2.8L II and Sky and I took it out for a spin when I got home from picking it up.

I have to say, I'm seriously impressed and if I had $2,500 laying around (haha!) I would buy it today! It's awesome. Focuses really fast, super sharp especially for a zoom lens, and beautiful bokeh. It's focal lengths are super versatile and I could see myself shooting all kinds of things with it.

The best part is that I get to keep it until Monday at noon, so Sunday and Monday I could get some more personal shooting in with it!

Without further ado, here are my favorites from my practice shooting with Sky.

I'll just start with my favorite! Seriously impressed with how well this lens could focus on Sky as he was running at me. I had plenty of blurry shots that I discarded of course, but he is a super fast dog and I'm surprised how many of the shots ended up perfectly in focus!

Another one where he was pretty much running straight at me.

This lens is definitely useful for portraits!

A different perspective for sure! Haha!

I left him alone for one minute and of course he was back at the mud hole he's been digging in.
He looks very "caught in the act" in this image.

"It's fun! Come join me, you'll see!"

In this one he looks guilty!

Gorgeous.

All in all, this lens is a winner!
